Hi, Carmine!
It is certainly helpful to have a CS degree or career when transitioning to PM but it is not required.
Technical fluency is critical for a PM job at many (but not all) tech companies. Being able to talk about technology and help with architectural tradeoffs — ultimately mapping customer need to technical implementation — is an important PM skill. People who “BS” and talk confidently and incorrectly about technical terms or use mumbo jumbo to try and seem smart tend to cause an allergic reaction in engineers, which counter-indicates a good PM career.
Continuing to study and explore technical topics, sitting down with friends to have them explain systems to you, is a good way to continue your education regardless!
